A couple of key points that I got from this chapter would be how you need to use riding in an airplane to your advantage. The beauty that we can capture with our phones sits directly outside of the airplanes window.
"don't they know theres a million dollar view at just a glance away" p.139
Influences are very important as well and you need to be sure that you aren't accidentally referencing something you don't mean to. Some people might see an airplane wing and think about the twilight zone and imagine the guy ripping off the wing.
Using color is always depending on the picture, sometimes the picture is expressed better in the nitty gritty black and white. Its a personal choice that supports the way that you want to tell the story.
Taking pictures from super high point of views can turn out amazing if you haver proper use of light, point of view, and composition.
Using our iPhone camera we can also create strange effects with rapidly moving objects, due to the rolling shutter.
This shows an example of our iPhone shutter making it seem like there are multiple propellers flying off of the plane. |
This picture shows how color was needed to make the picture pop. |
