This photo expresses a lot of emotion captured by the setting of the ER, and by the depth of field.  It was changed to black and white as to give the photo a more dramatic edge,

This photo was fixed using more saturation, color, and adding in the cactus and the light shining from above.  This created a cartoon effect as well.

This photo has a great usage of depth of field, and lighting.  You can see the depth of field because everything that is close to the eye is in focus and everything in the background is blurry.   (This also shows you my exact point of view, how I was seeing the hospital that day. )* You almost feel as if you are the one holding the camera.   The leading lines make it pleasing to the eye, and the contrast of colors are what make it pop.

This photo was taken down a boring hallway of the hospital, but had effects and bubbles added in it to set a lighter mood.  This image also conveys mixing reality and fantasy, one of this project's main components.

This was another picture take in the same area but an effect was used to distort the image, ending in this creepy painting like photo.  It was also filtered to black and white to add a more intense emotion.
This photo was as well filtered to black and white to create a more drastic contrast, and the jellyfish were added in to create the fantasy effect.  Although not the best in this set, this photos displays contrast best.   Motion was captured here as you see the man in the background leaving through the door.

I have changed as a photographer a lot, I barely knew how to use my camera my first day of class!  I have learned how to use my shutter speed, aperture, depth of field, and many more techniques.  I catch myself looking at facebook pictures posted and critiquing them as you do our work.  I feel that when I take a picture now, the chances of it coming out nicely have increased by at least eighty percent.  I am more confident holding my camera, and a ton more comfortable using the online editing websites.  It is amazing what you can do with a simple picture to make it look cooler!

Final Project; Artist's Statement

The concepts that are displayed in this final project include surrealism, technique, and editing.  These pictures were taken while my girlfriend was in the hospital so they have a lot of emotion, and capture the stress in the pictures.  Half are more serious and more focused on technique, rule of thirds, capturing the right lighting, making sure the image is sharpened or blurred.  The other half were more focused on toying with reality and editing to see what could be made.  This set of photos has a lot of meaning especially because it truly captures how it felt to wait, and not being sure what was going to happen.  The emotion is captured the best in the dramatic black and white photos, because you can truly feel the intensity.

The inspiration for this final project comes from a photographer by the name of Victor Eredel, who combines what is real and what is not and it becomes an amazing picture.  His photos are absolutely breathtaking as he uses amazing techniques such as using his depth of field, lighting, and editing.  His photos are either super realistic and sharp, or combined with editing and photoshop to create an illusion.  Some of my influences as well include the setting of being at the hospital and using the editing tool and creating these pictures took a lot off my mind and the stress and anxiety helped to create some of the more dramatic pictures.

The idea of intensity and hard work were communicated in the first photo set.  It contains sharp images that use depth of field, and contrast in their favor.  There was also a black and white effect added to a couple to create the intensity.  The mixing of reality with fantasy takes place in my next two photo sets, there are added in cartoons, effects, and the contrast, hue, saturation, and more were changed to create the illusions.  You can find two different themes when looking at the illusions, and that was happy vs. unhappy.  The brighter colors, the bubbles, and the the bright pink all seemed to make life a bit happier when looking at, while when looking at the darker black and white pictures they seem to make the world a bit sadder.
This photo changed the color saturation, turning the chairs pink to create a more cartoon yet real effect.  There was a small Bitmoji added in to create the fantasy effect while still being a real photograph.
This picture was playing with saturation and adding a pixel effect.  It is interesting because although a photograph of real life, it looks computer generated.
This photo was playing with saturation as well, and depth of field.  The image was also sharpened a bit and the leading line is what draws the eye.
This image was an effect called 'posterize' and created an unreal/cartoon effect.  The word sick was added in for irony although it is unclear if that transferred.

This picture started a bit boring, but the editing tool 'vignette' gave it much more depth and emotion.  The image was sharpened, darkened, and cropped to give a better look.
